Swansea has embarked on the reassessment of its rich history. It is a story of castles and battles, industry, science and trade that made the town world famous. More recently it developed a dynamic culture in which music, art, literature and sport have all played a part.
A programme of commemorative Blue Plaques will serve as a powerful reminder of the great men and women who have graced Swansea.
Professor Peter Stead is joined by a panel of scholars who will identify the great men and women whose lives Swansea needs to celebrate and commemorate.
On the panel will be:
Professor Peter Stead - Chair, Theatre/Sport
Professor Huw Bowen - Industrial History/Sport
Dr Louise Miskell - Business/Commerce/Women
Professor John Tucker - Science/Technology
Mal Pope - Music/Entertainment
Dr Barry Plummer - Arts/Painting
Professor Wynn Thomas - Writers (English & Welsh)
John Ashley - History
The audience will be invited to discuss these names and make their own nominations.
The event will start at 6:00pm and run until 8:00pm, with registration from 5:30pm
