The IWA has been highly successful in forming links with public and private sector bodies. Organisations that have commissioned research from the IWA include the Welsh Government, WDA, Wales Tourist Board, Cardiff Bay Development Corporation, Council of Welsh TECs, Equal Opportunities Commission, Commission for Racial Equality, Disability Rights Commission, Welsh Language Board, Welsh Consumer Council, the Basic Skills Agency, and One North East (the regional development agency for the north east of England). Other sponsors have included several local authorities, CBI Wales, Barclays Bank, Pfizer, British Road Federation, Rachel's Dairies and Francis Balsom Associates.
