The Institute of Welsh Affairs has always been committed to the development of a progressive society in Wales in which all our citizens play their fullest part. Following the Western Mail's success in raising the profile of the contribution that Welsh women make to the Welsh economy and civic society, a new climate has been born in which men and women can compete equally. It is important, especially in the current economic climate that we continue to recognise and reward innovators and inspirational Welsh citizens.
To this end we are launching the IWA Inspire Wales Awards to further raise the profile of the contribution that Welsh men and women are making to our society, to encourage active citizenship and create role models for others.
The IWA is committing itself to this scheme to recognise and reward excellence, to underline the importance of innovation in the public, private and voluntary sectors, to encourage active involvement in Welsh civil society and to champion equal opportunities.
The Institute of Welsh Affairs is delighted to have secured Media Wales, owners of the Western Mail, as the media partner for the project. Media Wales Ltd will act as primary media supporter for the event.
We look forward to hearing and promoting the inspirational stories of all our finalists and winners and watching these awards develop year on year.
