Award for Institute of Welsh
Affairs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Institute of Welsh Affairs, Wales’s leading independent
think-tank, has become the latest Welsh organisation to be recognised
for the quality of the services it provides with the award of ISO
9001:2000 status.
The award, an international quality standard, certifies that the IWA
offers quality services in all its activities, including its publications,
research reports, conferences, seminars and other events, to members,
non-members and other customers. It was made following a rigorous
examination by independent assessors of all the processes carried
out by the institute.
The IWA has been working towards achieving the standard for the past
year and during this period has analysed and reviewed all the ways
in which it carries out its operations and deals with its members
and customers.
“This has been a valuable exercise that has concentrated our
minds on how best to achieve high standards of service. As a result
of winning this certificate, those who commission work from the IWA
or attend our events can be sure they will be dealing with an efficient,
well-run organisation that is determined to maintain the highest standards.”
Rhys David, Associate Director of the IWA, said.
The institute was founded nearly 20 years ago and membership is
open to any individual who shares its objectives of helping Wales
to prosper. There are currently more than 1,100 individual and 150
corporate members, spread across Wales. Headquartered in Cardiff,
the IWA also has branches in Swansea, West Wales, North Wales and
Gwent, which organise their own events and other activities alongside
those held in Cardiff.
